This leadership covenant lays out the church’s expectations of the EBC member and what the EBC member can expect from the church. Covenants were the normal practice in scripture. People knew what was expected and agreed to abide by the covenant guidelines.

The church expects from an EBC member that he or she will:
- Faithfully engage in prayer for the church, its leaders, and the lost in the community..
- Faithfully attend the worship services of the church.
- Establish relationships with other EBC members and serve them whenever the opportunity arises.
- Protect the unity of our church by refraining from gossip and by supporting the leaders in place.
- Conduct themselves in such a way through their speech and their actions that honor is brought to Jesus and to fellow EBC members.
Totally abstain from…
- Relationships that are forbidden in Scripture.
- Cohabitation (live-in companions of opposite sex) outside of a marriage covenant.
- Same-sex relationships and the condoning of the same.
- Sexual relations outside of a marriage covenant.
- The abuse of alcohol, over-the-counter/prescription drugs.
- The use of illegal drugs and/or illegal substances.
- Any behavior or characteristic not becoming of a fully devoted follower of Christ as listed in Scripture, as described in Galatians 5:19-21, Ephesians 5:1-16.
The EBC Member can expect from the church that it will:
- Faithfully pray for the member and his or her family.
- Provide opportunities to grow and be equipped as a follower of Jesus Christ.
- Provide biblical training that the member needs in order to fulfill his or her role in serving opportunities he or she undertakes.
- Provide counsel when issues arise in the member’s life.
- Provide accountability for the member and his or her family and their actions on a regular basis.
